I've tested the kernel 4.15.0-52 (from khfeng) on my laptop and found: THE FLICKERING IS GONE! Screen is O.K. in text and graphic - mode. Console switching works too. So, Paul's bugfix seems to work! Many thanks! I found one small thing: the new radeon.ko - module identifies itself still as "... Initialized radeon 2.50.0 20080528"; same like the buggy version. So it is difficult to distinguish the "good" from the "buggy" - module.
