I think the issue is the same as the others above so there is no point in opening another one. dmesg | grep ELAN returns:
i2c_hid i2c-ELAN1200:00: i2c_hid_get_input: incomplete report (16/65535) just like in the case of the OP. Also it might be helpful to mention that reloading the driver unfreezes the touchpad.
