When I tried the workaround you suggested:

>1, append "blacklist rtwpci" in "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf";
>2, sudo update-initramfs -u -k 5.0.0-21-generic

and rebooted, wlp7s0 (wlan0) does not even show up anymore. I have
attached the output of lsmod when workaround 1 and 2 are applied.
