Frankly speaking, I don't understand the use of doing so much debugging, when 
s2ram solves the issue perfectly. Suspend/resume works out of box on suse here, 
because it uses s2ram. (-p -m are the required options on my laptop) -

Also, I think from hardy onwards this issue will be solved, because ubuntu will 
migrate to hal/pm-suspend infrastructure. Even there, most machines are 
supported out of box -

Ubuntu IMHO is just trying to over-complicate things by using acpi-
support and what not !
