I had similar issues on Chuwi Hi13 tablet with the same eMMC module. It looks like latest 5.4-rc3 fixed that issue for me. I haven't tried other 5.4 kernel, but tried some of older kernels and older distros and 5.3 family. I tried 5.4-rc3 on Arch Linux and it worked all good.
