Running on a abit IP35 with PATA dvd drive and Samsung hd501lj SATA hard
drive on SATA port 2 I need the workaround irqpoll for the live CD. I
loaded a new 7.10 32bit install with the alternate cd which partitioned
and populated ok but produces this issue on cold boot. Ctrl D allows
the system to come up. Otherwise eventual busybox and initramfs shell
EVERY time. The Ubuntu rescue stuff fails on can't find disk. I made
no changes to the BIOS it is already set at IDE for SATA.

Are there any "knock on" effects from using Ctrl D?
