Here's what I have: ls -l /ubuntu/lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.22-14-generic/nvidia
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 125968 2007-11-01 08:20 nv-i2c.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 29096 2007-11-01 08:20 nvidia.mod.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7779664 2007-11-01 08:20 nv-kernel.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 326100 2007-11-01 08:20 nv.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 122936 2007-11-01 08:20 nv-vm.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 121584 2007-11-01 08:20 os-agp.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 170976 2007-11-01 08:20 os-interface.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 134256 2007-11-01 08:20 os-registry.o I already tried completely uninstalling everything - all the ubuntu restricted packages, and the nvidia-glx package, and then using the nvidia-installer script in "uninstall" mode so as to be sure of doing a clean install each time. The driver from nvidia.com, (or, equivalently, using envy) always works; the ubuntu packaged one always fails. Incidentally, I administrate 3 other machines, all using 64-bit Gutsy, on similar processors, and with similar Nvidia 7600 GT cards. These work (and always worked) just fine with Ubuntu's package. The cards are slightly different though - my desktop (in this bug report) uses a 7600 GT which has 2 DVI ports (on dual monitors), whereas the other machines have 7600-based cards which are only capable of driving a single DVI output. -- Ubuntu's nvidia driver package is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161797 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
