I am able to recreate this error on a Ryzen 5/Vega 8 laptop[1]. I had to
hit the "cancel" button very fast (being disconnected from wifi seems to
help slow the Calamares process down, and make it easier to click cancel
soon enough to cause the hang.).

The machine I first reported this bug on is pretty slow. It's easier to
recreate (especially if you're not connected to wifi). This machine is
much faster, and is harder to recreate.

[1] Ryzen 5 3500u; Radeon Vega 8; Atheros QCA6174 (Acer Aspire 5
A515-43-R5RE laptop).
