As the original reporter, I feel the obligation to reply: I'm not using the problematic laptop anymore, so if anyone else can test the proposed version - that would be most awesome!
kaihengfeng, thanks for taking a look! I'm curious - are you in contact with / part of the kernel USB team? Could you link to the commit the version you posted was built from? Testing new kernels is rather time-consuming for me due to lack of experience.
