My problems with these kind of freezes went lower until almost
dissapear, but were still there with edgy, feisty, and now with gutsy.

I read some info in a webpage, and tried one last thing:
sudo tune2fs -e continue /dev/MYEXT3PARTITION

The reason is that I think I can have random little issues with my
hardware (I don't know if with my HDD or the adapter), and by default if
the kernel finds anything bad it's set to panic itself. That option sets
the partition to not panic the kernel.

Till now, I haven't experimented any other freeze from then.
