Thanks, Sebastien. In the end, I waited until the next update. I am happy to say that, as of language-pack-gnome-nl version 1:20.04+20200416, the fix seems to have made its way into Ubuntu 20.04!
I haven't checked 19.10 and 18.04. As far as I remember, this issue also affected 18.04, but this has not been put in the metadata.
