I confirm same bug on my system. Pressing the lid button by hand does
nothing visible immediately but afterwards the /etc/acpi/videobtn.sh
script gets executed at random intervals  (I suspect that whenever
thermal zone events are received) and the screen goes blank as if the
lid was closed.

My system: HP-Compaq nc6120 with Intel Pentiun Centrino 2.0 GHz, 512MB RAM, 
running an up-to-date Kubuntu Gutsy.

This bug makes Gutsy unusable for me. I hope it gets solved soon.
