Public bug reported:

Since I did the upgrade to 20.04 vlc does no longer close correctly. If
I close vlc while a video is still playing, the window disappears but a
vlc process keeps active in my process-list. Also the little systray-
icon stays. If I browse thru many videos a lot of vlc processes clutter
up my system. If the video is stopped, vlc closes regularly.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a video with vlc
2. Close the player while the video is playing

What happens:

The vlc window vanishes, but a vlc process stays active in the
background, consuming memory. If enabled the systray-icon also stays
