Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-9-generic

On a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 notebook, when booting the latest distribution 
kernels available, 2.6.17-8-generic or 2.6.17-9-generic, the special ACPI 
subsystem for Toshiba laptops doesn't work any more. (E.g. the "toshset" 
utility "segfaults" when invoked, and the Fn-keys have no effect)

This is a regression, for it works under 2.6.17-7-generic (Knot-3 CD
release).

This bug is important, sadly, because it renders the laptop unusable
(i.e. the LCD brightness setting is stuck at the lowest possible value
and thus the display not readable at even slightly elevated ambient
lighting conditions, among other issues).
