Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-9-generic
Hi! On a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 notebook, when booting the latest distribution kernels available, 2.6.17-8-generic or 2.6.17-9-generic, the special ACPI subsystem for Toshiba laptops doesn't work any more. (E.g. the "toshset" utility "segfaults" when invoked, and the Fn-keys have no effect) This is a regression, for it works under 2.6.17-7-generic (Knot-3 CD release). This bug is important, sadly, because it renders the laptop unusable (i.e. the LCD brightness setting is stuck at the lowest possible value and thus the display not readable at even slightly elevated ambient lighting conditions, among other issues). Here is the output of dmesg for all kernels (I'm trying to attach these to this bug report, too): http://datenparkplatz.de/DiesUndDas/dmesg.boot.messages.2.6.17-9-generic.txt http://datenparkplatz.de/DiesUndDas/dmesg.boot.messages.2.6.17-8-generic.txt http://datenparkplatz.de/DiesUndDas/dmesg.boot.messages.2.6.17-7-generic.txt HTH, Ulrich ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- [regression]: Toshiba ACPI driver corrupted since 2.6.17-8 https://launchpad.net/bugs/62382 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
