Hi Marcus, Note that ifupdown is no longer a supported networking path on focal, so you may want to look into migrating your network configuration to netplan regardless to avoid other issues like this cropping up going forward.
That said, I agree that we don't need to express a hard dependency on netplan.io in our packaging. Removing it would make using unsupported networking backends possible without compromising the supported Ubuntu networking configuration backend. Thanks!
