My favoured workaround right now is to install the Debian Sid version of this package.

You'll need all three to build this package, and you should save them to the same directory. 2. Unpack the source using: $ dpkg-source -x pstoedit_3.45-2.dsc 3. Grab the packages you'll need to build this tool: $ sudo aptitude install build-essential debhelper dh-buildinfo docbook-to-man g++ libwmf-dev libmagick++9-dev libplot-dev libpng12-dev pkg-config gs fakeroot but don't take my word for it. You can find out exactly what's required by looking at debian/control in the pstoedit-3.45 folder. 4. Build: $ cd pstoedit-3.45 $ fakeroot debian/rules binary 5.
