I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the speaker to the audio output jack as you suggested, however it did not change the behavior. The 'Dummy Output' remains, and no sound is heard. @Kai, I added the PPA you linked to, applied the updates, and rebooted my system. Unfortunately, this did not change the behavior. The 'Dummy Output' remains, and no sound is heard. Please let me know if I can provide any addition information or fresh logs files from my system, as I am happy to do so.
