Public bug reported: I set up a bridge (linux bridge, also tried ovs bridge), with two taps. Two qemu vms, one using each tap, using virtio or e1000. Ran one as dnsmasq+pxe server, the other '-boot n'. Watching traffic on the bridge and each tap device, i could verify that boots replied to bootc requests, and the booting vm's tap did receive that reply. But it would just keep re-issuing its bootc request.
When I build ipxe from git and install the result, it works. This was happening with 19.04. I'm going to upgrade, I assume it's fixed in 20.04 and probably 19.10, but will reply here. But the bug should be open to save other people the hours I wasted trying to find a bug in the bridge code, until 19.04 is EOL. ** Affects: ipxe (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - bootp packages go missing + bootp replies go missing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1886677 Title: bootp replies go missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ipxe/+bug/1886677/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
