IMVHO, this is a problem with your .gtkrc. Please delete it and report back (or even better, rename it to make sure you don't lose any settings you might want :-).
Please don't file bugs about Firefox crashing if you have Flash installed. You are installing flash at your own risk and there's nothing that Ubuntu developers can do to stop Flash from making Firefox unstable, since they do not have access to Flash source code.
