"this application ... remove applications" sound repetitive too. Furthermore the name of the menu item ist "add/remove ...", so I think, that we could skip this sentence.
Since GNOME decided to use the term application primarly, we should do so too. Take a look at the panel menu. The main menu is named "applications".
