I believe this is fixed in the realease contained in hardy.

However, the installation will fail if there is no mysql server access
which the permission to create a database and users.

If the installation failed. the package must be purged (not removed) in
order to allow the necessary information to be queried.

Could you please check if you find it the same way, or if not please
provide more detailed information and a step-by-step description what
was done and what happened, in order to reproduce the problem.
