Hi Till, The escl backend is not abandoned! It is being maintained and will continue to be maintained as long as sane-airscan does not offer the full functionality of the escl backend. Support for the escl backend is complete, ADF, Brightness, Threshold, Sharpen and Contrast. Some devices require PDF to work. Unix socket support is present.
