Also please explain what you mean with "The ESM changes" exactly. Enabling ESM (why not just upgrading if you can), or if you truly need to stay on 14.04 then what is the pain you mention and suggest how things could be better.
Also if you are a non private user and have an active contract for ESM you most likely also have UA and that is a much better place for such a kind of bug. So if you have consider filing it there instead and link to the bug in the report.
