FIX IS to add these lines to

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-config.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=clevo-p950
options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=0x1

the cause appears to be NVIDIA drivers I am using the same ones....

writeup...

The problem did appear to happen after I changed to NVIDIA from the
default... why NVIDIA breaks sound i have no idea lol
