Additional information: It was a happy accident that gnome-control-manager worked for me when I configured it. The configuration consists of a single embedded device connected to the wired port and the hotel ISP connected to the USB port.
Had I switched them, it would not work. The embedded device configured as"Shared to other computer" in IPv4 shows as "cable disconnected" until ifconfig has been run on that box. Yet the interface could be configured when it shows in that state. The USB adapter does not show up, nor is there an appropriate way to make it show up, until an active network is connected. It can THEN be configured as what you want. A WORKAROUND would be to connect a switch to the USB adapter, and then configure it. I consider this a *BUG* in gnome-control-manager network applet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901060 Title: Using gnome-control-center to configure two wired connections is unreliable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1901060/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
