I'm trying to install the plugin to get my scanner of the multi function
printer HP M182n working on 18.04, which I am currently still using on
my machine and it fails to download the plugin. Looking at
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/plugins I see
that it is likely that the file hplip-3.17.10-plugin.run has been
removed from the server. There is a newer one, hplip-3.17.11-plugin.run
but it's getting more and more messy trying to make this minor version
number bump in the plugin work with the version in Ubuntu and the
upstream software quality is terrible too. I started replacing version
numbers and hashes in the bash makeself run files, but it fails again.
This time with:


  Uncompressing HPLIP 3.17.10 Plugin Self Extracting Archive....
  gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated
  .Extraction failed.
  Terminated
  error: Python gobject/dbus may be not installed
