If Alt+Escape (or Control+ or Shift+) is already bound, then it's not listed in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" application (which also typically prevents you from binding multiple actions to the same shortcut), and it's not bound to a visible action---nothing seems to occurs when I press any of these shortcuts.
I didn't find anything binding escape looking at the compiz options (/apps/compiz/general/*/options) or metacity options using gconf-editor, but it's possible I missed something.
