Public bug reported: UbuntuStudio Gutsy up to date, kernel 2.6.22-14-rt. The computer is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS415S with a Matshita UJ-841D drive.
I cannot burn DVDs using either nautilus burn feature, brasero, or growisofs. In brasero : - drive properties report a free space size of 2**64 bytes on the disc ! - the disk capacity selection menu (bottom left) has an entry for the blank DVD stating a -2048MB size ! - when trying to burn the disc, it gets ejected with the message "not enough space on the media" (translated from french) and the following line is output in dmesg : "cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!" In nautilus, when trying to burn I get the message "An error happened when burning the disk: unhandled error, aborting" (also translated from french). With growisofs, I get the following output : $ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=image.iso Executing 'builtin_dd if=image.iso of=/dev/dvd obs=32k seek=0' /dev/dvd: FEATURE 21h is not on, engaging DAO... /dev/dvd: reserving 1676363 blocks :-[ RESERVE TRACK failed with SK=3h/ASC=57h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error /dev/dvd: "Current Write Speed" is 8.2x1352KBps. :-[ [EMAIL PROTECTED] failed with SK=3h/ASC=57h/ACQ=00h]: Input/output error :-( write failed: Input/output error I didn't try burning CDs since I have no blank CD at this time. On WinXP there are no problems with the same blank disks, and I **think** it worked with Feisty (but I'm not absolutely sure...). Attached are the output of dmesg (after several burning tries), cdrecord -scanbus, lshw and lshal.
