I own a Lenovo 3000V100 which I have now upgraded to Gutsy and faced the same problem (while this was not a problem in the prev version).
I read your comments and noticed that in the file /etc/laptop-mode /laptop-mode.conf the hibernate script path is /usr/sbin/hibernate which doesnot exist in my installation. I changed this as below and I am now waiting for my battery to drain to see if it works: # HIBERNATE_COMMAND=/usr/sbin/hibernate HIBERNATE_COMMAND=/etc/acpi/hibernate.sh FYI the /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh works perfectly if you run it manually. I will let u know of the outcome however you can try it yourselves as well.
