I own a Lenovo 3000V100 which I have now upgraded to Gutsy and faced the
same problem (while this was not a problem in the prev version).

I read your comments and noticed that in the file /etc/laptop-mode
/laptop-mode.conf the hibernate script path is /usr/sbin/hibernate which
doesnot exist in my installation.

I changed this as below and I am now waiting for my battery to drain to
see if it works:

# HIBERNATE_COMMAND=/usr/sbin/hibernate
HIBERNATE_COMMAND=/etc/acpi/hibernate.sh

FYI the /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh works perfectly if you run it manually.

I will let u know of the outcome however you can try it yourselves as
well.
