More info: I installed xserver-glx and now xine -V xv doesn't crash anymore. However, the colors are smeared, almost like a double image. Unwatchable.
Also, -V opengl appears to work fine, but the colors are subtly wrong. The blue seems unnaturally emphasized, too saturated. Other colors are fine. Basically, there's no mode that reproduces the colors correctly.
