Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/988161:

Package: openmolcas
Version: 20.10-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When running the debian/tests/testsuite.sh, problems may be observed.

* If the tests themselves had multiple failures, basename is unable to
work with the list of files.

See example of this at:
https://ci.debian.net/data/autopkgtest/unstable/s390x/o/openmolcas/9503342/log.gz

* If the directory we cd to doesn't have advantageous permissions, we
can fail to write out the files.

I've seen this in local test runs:
failing example:
autopkgtest openmolcas_20.10-2.dsc -- lxd autopkgtest/ubuntu/impish/amd64
(interestingly, I don't see this with adt lxd sid)

sample log: see attached, here's a snippet:
autopkgtest [11:27:29]: test testsuite.sh: [-----------------------
cannot write to /tmp/autopkgtest.xgUzeJ/build.d5F
cat: failed/list: No such file or directory
basename: missing operand
Try 'basename --help' for more information.
autopkgtest [11:27:29]: test testsuite.sh: -----------------------]

I've sent a MP that is intended to remediate these problems.
