Public bug reported:

After upgrade from 20.10 to 21.04, I am unable to run OpenSCAD
successfully.

The program launches ok, but after clicking New or loading a file, the
preview/render window is blank with no axes shown. When opening an
existing .scad file, the Console window shows that the design was
rendered, but nothing appears in the viewer. If I then try to do a full
Render, the program crashes.

If I run OpenSCAD from a command line, I see numerous OpenGL errors:

===== START =======

$ openscad
Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use
QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.

======= END ============

FWIW, noting the warning at the top, I tried using different values of
QT_QPA_PLATFORM, but mostly just hung on launch and never displayed
anything.

I did not see any similar reports under either Ubuntu's or OpenSCAD's
bug trackers.

Thanks!
