We have changed the default print management system in Ubuntu from
gnome-cups-manager to system-config-printer because g-c-m is no longer
maintained. When adding a new printer I now see three relevant options:
KONICA, KonicaMinolta and Minolta, so I'm not sure that's better :)

Improved auto-detection might save the day though. Could those who have
this printer please try configuring it on a clean Gutsy or Hardy system
(Live CD should do) and let us know how badly/well this works in real
life? Thanks!
