Public bug reported: I have had at least two occasions where I suspect that a lack of time between the updater reporting it is ready and me pressing the restart button resulted in a broken installation. The updater did no complain about installation errors, nor did the /var/log/apt contain errors. The machine would not start up properly complaining about missing files.
I think that a missing "sync" command before actually rebooting the machine is the issue here. I think that the update-manager should do this because not everyone is aware of this. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1941758 Title: No sync between upgrade and restart -> incomplete installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1941758/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
