Hi,

while doing housekeeping-bug work (for a very old bugs like this even),
I reviewed this bug and I found several things related to it:

- The issue about having a separating partition for /boot was fixed
here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kexec-tools/+bug/828731

- Continuing to boot normally although makedumpfile assumptions are not
satisfied was fixed here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kexec-tools/+bug/600051

Also, the mentioned script, 0_kdump, doesn't exist anymore as it was
replaced in kexec-tools 1:2.0.4-1ubuntu1 (Trusty) by the use of the new
kdump-tools package (that replaces makedumpfile in turn), as we can see
in the changelog:

"exec-tools (1:2.0.4-1ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1271127), remaining changes:
    [...]
    - Implementation of kdump-tools is now completed so the following are
      removed :
kdump init script and initramfs snippet
Remove dependancy to initramfs-tools and makedumpfile
Remove Depend on makedumpfile (on appropriate architectures)
    [...]

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. Since it seems to work nowadays and
the package that handles this is now other (kdump-tools), I'll mark this
bug as "Won't fix". Please, feel free to file a bug if you consider it's
still present on a currently supported Ubuntu version, in the proper
package.

Thank you for your time on this issue and we really appreciate your
efforts to resolve it.
