Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce:
Download Ubuntu server Gutsy i386 CD ISO or Alternate i386 CD ISO from mirrors.kernel.org Validate download was ok using MD5SUMS Check CD for defects (no defects found) Install Ubuntu server Towards the end - just before grub is installed, you get the error: Could not locate a kernel to install in any of the configured apt sources I tried this on the server i386 ISO as well as the ALTERNATE i386 ISO - in both cases under VirtualBox running on Ubuntu Feisty (AMD64). It happens consistently - tried at least twice on each distro. On investigation of the CD, the pool/main/l/linux-meta/linux-image*.deb are very small and do not seem to point at the right package names pool/main/l/linux-source contains a linux-image deb, and I was able to install it using the Rescue mode and dropping to a shell, doing a chroot to /target etc. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu Gutsy i386 server ISO cannot install kernel - critical error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
