Same same, after upgrade from 5.8 to 5.11. Soft lockups during boot, long boot time, and after that a very slow machine. My machine is also Intel Celeron based, like the previous reports.
After login into the desktop environment, the "atop" program shows that almost all cpu time is spent in irq, where this normally is close to 0 percent. (see attachment) Login in was hard because not all keyboard input was processed. The "old" ubuntu is still working as expected (see attachment). See attachment for logs. I tried the following: * Ubuntu Live image on usb: same problem * Fedora Live image on usb: same problem * wait until the boot process comes through and collect the logs (kernel params: nomodeset debug verbose) * perform an apt-get upgrade; apt-get update, reboot, problem still present * fsck , all was okay. * tried kernel parameter intel_idle.max_cstate=1 (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_graphics#Baytrail_complete_freeze), same problem * tried kernel parameter noapic (following a hunch), same problem ** Attachment added: "dmesg, lshw ,lspci, syslog, screenshot atop" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-5.11/+bug/1931001/+attachment/5531320/+files/logs.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931001 Title: kernel: watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 22s!
