I just upgraded an LTS 16.04.7 host running Xen (but the Xen version is 
4.6.5-0ubuntu1.5~rc1, only the kernel would be 4.4) with a running VM. That was 
still usable after the upgrade. The xl command still showed the VM name.
Only one oddity, the serial console got disrupted (the VM seemed to have 
dropped the PTY). But VNX and ssh continued to work.
