Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdebi-kde

Ever since I upgraded to Kubuntu 7.10, GDebiKDE has slowed the system to
a crawl every time I've had to use it.

Look at: https://440.us.to/screenies/screenie1.png (yes, there are
security warnings but there is no risk, it's my home server)

The spike in all four graphs is when I used GDebiKDE to install a
package (new version of Opera). It hogged all of my memory and over 600
megs of swap. The system slowed to a crawl to the point that my audio
dropped out and the mouse was unresponsive.

I don't know if this is my system in particular or if it is a bug. I'm
surprised I can't find any other bug reports for this.

System info: Kubuntu 7.10 (with kernel 2.6.22-14-rt for audio purposes)
running on an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ (1.8 GHz) with 512 MB of RAM. The
system is fast and responsive most of the time. It could be something to
do with my real time kernel.

** Affects: gdebi (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
