Public bug reported: Version 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3 was uploaded late in the Impish release cycle; it reached impish-proposed but was then deleted from Impish and released to Jammy, see:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3 This causes a corner case: 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu2 is now the "tip" of Impish but 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3 did briefly exist there. Now a SRU to Impish versioned as usual: 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu2.1 won't upgrade systems where 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3 got installed while that version was in impish-proposed. OTOH we can't 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3.1 as that would go ahead of Jammy. We could handle this case with a carefully crafted "~ubuntu" version string, but will require us (and other contributors) remembering or finding out about this specific case. See the discussion here: https://code.launchpad.net/~paride/ubuntu/+source/samba/+git/samba/+merge/411694 At the moment the simplest solution seems to be a no-change upload to Jammy bumping the Ubuntu revision level in the version string, at the only cost of forcing a useless upgrade of samba for the devel release users, which seems to be entirely bearable. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Paride Legovini (paride) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Paride Legovini (paride) ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1950626 Title: Version 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2ubuntu3 uploaded to Impish, released to Jammy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1950626/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
