Having the ISO updated is just for other people's user experience.
If they try and appears a black screen and then it reboots.. they may go back 
to Windows.
I don't know how difficult is to show an error message (like the one that 
appears in recovery mode but without previous verbose) in those cases 
recommending to try other version.

In my case, I deal with the problem working with 20.04 with
5.13.0-1010-oem kernel (the only drawback is that Virtualbox is not
compatible, so I have to wait till the fixed kernel is supported by
them).
