I have the same problem, but I am running Ubuntu on a brand new stock laptop. Intel Core Duo. Problems started occuring when I enabled suspend/resume. I can never resume without crashing the OS. On resume, the screen blinks a few times, goes to terminal mode, and complains: Dec 22 19:38:04 totic kernel: [ 4012.488000] usb_endpoint usbdev4.8_ep00: PM: resume from 0, parent 4-1 still 1 Shortly afterwards, system goes into hard reset. This happens every time.
Workaround: do not suspend.
