I use Kubuntu Gusty and I have that same problem. Before Feisty failed when it was mounted as camera, but at the same time it mounted as usb storage and I could explore my camera folders the same is a pendrive, for example.
Kubuntu Gusty only mounts as camera:// and always fails. In google I see many people with same problem and no solution.
