Thanks. This sounds like a bug in the desktop-icons-ng extension.
Please:

1. Reboot.

2. Login.

3. While there are no desktop icons visible, open a Terminal window and
run:

   journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

4. Attach the resulting text file here.
