I didn't have the source in my repository list.

After reloading my package information, I've been able to run the command line:
"apt-cache showsrc gtk+2.0 | grep tiff" and it shows :

Build-Depends: debhelper (>> 4.0.0), gettext, pkg-config, libglib2.0-dev
(>= 2.12.0), libpango1.0-dev (>= 1.12), libatk1.0-dev (>= 1.9),
libx11-dev, libxext-dev, libxi-dev, libxrandr-dev, libxt-dev,
libxrender-dev, libxft-dev, libxcursor-dev, libxkbfile-dev, libxinerama-
dev, libxfixes-dev, libcairo2-dev (>= 1.2.0), libtiff4-dev,
libjpeg62-dev, libpng12-dev, docbook-utils, linuxdoc-tools-text, gnome-
pkg-tools, libcupsys2-dev

but I don't know if this is the right way to proceed, but I uninstalled
the libtiff4 and synaptic didn't complain about having to uninstall the
dependencies. Neither complained when I reinstalled the gtk+2.0-dev
about having to install the dependencies.
