I don't think we should fix this. IMHO, it's not a bug. Rationale is: - if a program from package X is installed in /usr/bin (or any system-wide path) and is supposed to be used as a launcher for a particular mime-type or file extension, yet firefox does not propose it, it's probably package X's fault to not have the proper mime referenced and then, the bug should be against X, not firefox.
