After installing the backport, I still don't get the 'digital input source' option in alsamixer or anywhere else.
However, I had previously followed the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gutsy_Intel_HD_Audio_Controller under 'method A'. At this instant, the alsa-base file in modprobe.d says 'snd-hda-intel model=3stack'. I have an XPS m1330.
