Public bug reported: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS running Boinc 7.18.1+dfsg-4 problems. 1st. after install starting the Boinc client error msg. is you do not have access to Var Lib. I corrected that by adding my user id to the Boinc group and changing the ownership of the group in the Boinc-client folder in etc lib. from root to Boinc. After restarting Boinc the next msg. is "Boinc Manager (Pre-Release) Daemon start failure. Then the client and manager disconnect indicated by the icon in the lower right corner of Boinc. I even tried having the boinc daemon start up at IPL and it made no difference I receive the same error msg. Another Ubuntu user in Ubuntu Redit described the same problem and couldn't fix it so his solution was to restore Ubuntu 20.04 and Boinc worked fine again. Is this really a Pre-Release of Boinc, and if so why was it included in a Long Term Support release instead of the current production version of Boinc for linux? Thanks for your help. Cheers, Ace
