Further reading would suggest that it's a bug in Nautilus and the way that 
gvfsd deals with trash:

It runs out that I don't have ding installed, and also no references to
gvfsd.

Yet, if I do as the post above says and kill the gvfsd process when it's
running it stops my root drive filling up with an enormous syslog.

How do I transfer this bug over to Nautilus?
