For close to two weeks now, I haven’t been able to log into Unity on
Noble (Intel CPU + Nvidia GPU). Then when the xz-utils situation started
I stopped daily updating a second computer (AMD CPU+GPU).

Two days ago, I thought that the packages had been rebuilt, so I updated
the second PC, now that one too loops from LightDM back to LightDM. I
tried the usual fixes to no avail.

Lastly, a friend contacted me and he also experiences the same problem
on his Ubuntu Unity Noble (Intel CPU + AMD GPU).

For now, I access my two PCs through the Cinnamon desktop and that
works.

The problem remains as of 2024-04-08.
